Holistic Clinical Counseling

Suffering ensues when we are unable to attain a balance between our "being" nature and our "becoming" aspects. If a person has been exposed to significant discomfort, feelings of inadequacy resulting from trauma, stresses, loss, difficult life-transitions, or abnormal brain chemistry, the following could result:

anxiety - depression
eating disorders - addictions
low self esteem - relationship issues

As a Clinical Social Worker, Maurice offers holistic counseling. In order to nurture effective healing and personal growth, attention should be given to not just one or two, but four significant aspects of one's life: physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual.

Maurice uses a blending of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and brief-solution approaches. Additionally, based upon client need and preference, Jungian and Reichian psychology, Taoist/Buddhist psychology, yoga, qigong, and other Asian stress management disciplines may be employed. Through a multi-faceted approach, Maurice has assisted clients in transforming their personal/emotional challenges into opportunity. He has helped clients to foster equanimity, and embrace a compassionate acceptance/appreciation of self-other and the "present moment."
